On the deck we the raised the solar screen of surrender, going into another weekend of triple-digit heat. The other side of the house already has two screens up to deflect the afternoon blast. They both help.
The sizes were Home Depot choices, but would require many dirigibles aloft and inter-connectedly for Phoenix! What happened to “barrage balloons” from the WWII era? I’m sure that .Gov has some in a bunker wearhouse somewhere under a mountain! BTW nice to hear from you!
Hadn’t heard of barrage balloons – nifty idea. Lots of video on YouTube.
I remember roll-up sun shades from when I was a kid – don’t recall if there’s a specific name for them. They were 2-4 strands of knotted cord, with slats contained by the knots.
Do they come in really large sizes? I’m thinking on a grand scale, to be carried aloft by dirigibles to provide shade for Phoenix.
No triple-digits here, yet. Fingers crossed, cuz the older I get, the less heat tolerant I become.
