Got warmer today with a breeze from the north, but the newly insulated garage with mini-split is heaven for the furry beast, holding at somewhere around 78-degrees…
Sunday was supposed to be cooler, but it got up to 108.0°F (corrected) – and so the dog-safe protocols were followed: fresh and cool pool water, ice in multiple dog-dishes, and running through the sprinklers… Such a lucky dog!
13% humidity is nothing to bitch at. Try 105F with 65% humidity.

Oh I agree, didn’t mean to sound bitchy. Where I lived as a kid overseas it was often 110 and 89% humidity! It was like walking around in a hot, wet cloud!

Highest we’ve seen is 115… I ‘miss’ running through the sprinklers… sigh

Yay sprinklers! The dog enjoys it too.

Only 109 in Wickenburg, AZ today but it’s a dry heat . . . supposed to warm up to over 110 for the holiday.
Happy Independence Day!

It worked it’s way up to 105.6°F and the day’s not over – but you guys are REALLY in the Hot Zone!

I didn’t know you were getting a heat wave there too. I’ve benn checking the “heat index” map that Drudge links to, and I’m sure glad I don’t live down in the South. I’m already getting pretty intolerant of the comparatively mild summers here in CO, where even if it gets over 100, it isn’t so humid. And (knock on wood) it doesn’t often get that hot.
Hope you’re enjoying your summer!

We’re just getting a little three-day spike in the heat, one that should have come in June – but there’s still a lot of snow up in the high country so maybe that’s having an effect. They’re gonna be skiing in bikinis on The Fourth for sure! And unlike the South, the humidity is low and that makes it more tolerable – but it’s the dog I’m mainly concerned with, and keeping her cool.
