Time out…

Mom’s going into hospice.

UPDATE: That was fast. She died peacefully this morning (Friday, 2/17) around 10:00AM.

UPDATE-UPDATE: Thank you all for the kind words and condolences, I realize I am very fortunate to have had such a generous amount of time with my folks and family before anyone has take leave.
I know many people, my wife included, who’s time with parents’ has been cut short for one reason or another.

  1. Sorry to hear about your mom’s death.
Not sorry to hear it was essentially a normal elderly human passing, instead of our all too often Western Civ long drawn out, torture for everyone, type of death.

    • Thank you very much for the kind words and feelings.
She never said exactly what it was, but we got two extra years with “oxygen therapy” – the avian-flu creeping lung-stuff occupied too much surface territory and she was at less than %70 supply in the end.

    • Thank you for the kindness. She had a thing for numbers, and died on a date of sorta matching numbers. But I’m not gonna play them in the lottery. Or maybe I should.

    • As Elvis might say, Thank-you-thank-you-thank-you.
It was a slow lead-up to a quick sprint across the finish line.
That caught us all off-guard, including Dad. But that’s Mom, always planning ahead, always good for a surprise, and sometime a surprise-attack! Every now and then I burst into tears. #Whiskey heps – of which she would not approve.
