Pineapple Upside-down Cake

Wet weather is headed up here from Hawaii, the Pineapple Express, and the first and steady rain since late September is expected in a few hours. Last night a few minutes after sunset a brilliant red sky hung from one end of the horizon to the other, streaked by navy blue and flecked in turquoise, and swept away into blackness.
Today the Plumbing Maestro finished the recirculating circuit, flushed the lines and and wrapped the wiring on quick hot water to the tap (count to ten). Now instead of a five minute (and four gallons) wait while 60-feet of cold water sitting in the line that needs purging from one end of the house to the other before the hot starts, we get to go from warm to hot in a jiffy. The low maintenance/low amperage pump is on a built-in timer that’s set to run from 5AM till 11PM, and then rest for the night.
So today while Maestro Plumber was fixin’ to flux and solder copper, we went up to Apple Hill and stocked up on apple butter and country living supplies — including mulling spices for apple wine. Cheers! Now I need to get a set of muck-lucks or something for cold weather… I HATE cold weather.
