At SayUncle you can’t make it illegaler.
A 20 year-old had a couple of handguns (illegal). And, depending on the press report, had an assault weapon (illegal), automatic rifle (illegal), or machine gun (illegal). Shot his mom in the face (illegal). Stole his mom’s vehicle (illegal). Transported the gun in the vehicle (illegal) within 1,000 feet of a school (illegal). Carried it onto school property (illegal). Broke and entered (illegal). Carried a gun in a school (illegal). Discharged a firearm (illegal). Shot at people (illegal). Killed some people (illegal). Killed himself (not sure if illegal).
And I’m sure broke other laws I’m not aware of. But, you know, one more gun law ought to do it. Right?
And from The Smallest Minority Newtown, Connecticut is not Dunblane, Scotland. I can’t wait to be lectured about my gun-rights by an Administration that purposely gave guns to illegal Mexican drug-cartel members, and that has resulted in the deaths of over TWO HUNDRED neighboring Mexicans...and that the effects of Operation Fast and Furious will most likely continue to be felt for years, as more walked guns appear at Mexican crime scenes.
The gun control forces say all they want is a “dialog.” Joe Huffman’s said it well back in August:
Your side lost on the safety argument and your side lost the legal argument (see the U.S. Supreme Court decisions D.C. v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago). You have no arguments left. The conversation was over years ago and all you are doing now is whining about the outcome. Go tell your problems to a therapist because the adults in this conversation aren’t interested in your delusions of relevancy.
Meanwhile from DW Drang at The Cluemeter: The worst school massacre in US History was the 1927 Bath School disaster (Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).
The Bath School disaster is the name given to THREE bombings in Bath Township, Michigan on May 18, 1927, which killed 38 elementary school children in the second to sixth grades, (7–11 years of age, two teachers, and four other adults – and the bomber himself. In total at least 58 people were injured. Most of the victims were children attending the Bath Consolidated School. The bomber was school board treasurer Andrew Kehoe, 55, who died in a car bomb he set off after he drove up to the school as the crowd gathered to rescue survivors from the burning school.
Apparently, he had a second bomb which failed. He probably would have upped the death toll to 200 or so if it had gone off.
Their deaths constitute the deadliest mass murder in a school, in U.S. history – and the third-deadliest non-military massacre in U.S. history behind 9/11 and the Oklahoma City bombing. (Though 9/11 was arguably a military exercise and act-of-War by Al-Quaeda Jihadists inflicted upon civilians.)
